Postponement requested by an LWG Auditor
Any auditor who is due to conduct an audit in an area of concern is permitted to postpone the audit until such time as he/she is confident of travelling again to that region. Any company whose audit is postponed for this reason will be entitled to an “Audit Certification Extension”.

Postponement requested by an LWG-certified Leather Manufacturer
Any leather manufacturer who has an audit booked in an area of concern is permitted to postpone their audit until such time as the company is able to trade confidently again or until their auditor can reschedule an audit. As above, those companies will be entitled to an “Audit Certification Extension”. To request postponement of your audit and an extension of your current certificate, please email your auditor and the administration team (欧亿3官网).

Postponement requested by an LWG-certified Trader
Any currently certified trader who has an audit booked in an area of concern is permitted to request a desk-based audit in the interim period with a follow up verification visit when travel returns to normal. Audit certificates will be issued on completion of the desk-based assessment, pending the completion of the physical inspection.

Please note that this is only available for previously audited traders under current certification. New trader audits will be postponed until a later date when the risk has passed. Traders should email their auditor and the administration team (info@leatherworkinggroup.com) to request a desk-based audit for this reason. In line with usual terms and conditions, the audit contract must have been signed and paid for in full to be eligible. There are no exceptions to this.

Audit Certificate extensions
An initial extension of 3 months will be granted to those companies which postpone their audit. Depending on the length of time it takes to control the virus and the subsequent availability of the auditing team, additional extension certificates will be provided on a rolling 3 month validity.

Important Notes:

  • Once the re-audit takes place, the original expiry date will be preserved, i.e. if original expiry was 1st March but the audit is postponed to 1 July, when the audit is carried out, the next expiry date will be based on 24 months from 1st March. This will ensure that audit schedules return to normal in subsequent years. It is also important to remember that this is not a way to extend your audit period indefinitely.

  • In order for a certificate extension to be granted, the audit contract must have been signed and paid for in full, in line with the usual terms and condition of audit. If the audit has not been paid for then certification will lapse, in line with usual practice. There are no exceptions to this.

Website listings will be updated and new certificates will be sent to leather manufacturers to cover the extension periods.

Companies that have already been in contact with us will receive their audit extension certificate within the next week. Any new requests should follow the above procedure so we can capture all those audits concerned and keep accurate records. If you have any queries, please email matt@leatherworkinggroup.com
